Environmental justice is the connection of social and environmental movements. It deals with the inequitable environmental burden born by groups such as people of color, women, or residents of developing nations. As more is being done to challenge environmental degradation and climate change, it is important that these efforts be inclusive and considerate of those most affected by these factors.
Hear from Ticiang Diangson and Michael Davis about their environmental justice efforts at Seattle Public Utilities.
Join in the discussion at your table.
- How are you impacted by environmental issues?
- What do you know about the environmental justice movement?
- Why are disproportionate environmental risks borne by low income and minority communities? What is the role of race and culture?
- As the environmental movement opens new doors of economic opportunity, how do we insure that the opportunities and benefits are shared?
There will be one table with a Spanish speaking facilitator.
This event is free and open to the public and dinner will be provided.
Driving Directions - From SR-520, take 148th Avenue NE exit north. Go past intersection at NE 40th Street and turn left into parking lot. Building is set back from the street.
